‘The Girls’ Special Edition framed giclée photographs will be available for sale at the gallery.

Artist Statement

I’m captivated by the creatures around us. I could spend hours watching them live in their own worlds, disconnected from our human cares and concerns. 

We humans tend to view chickens in terms of what they can do for us—be our dinner, for example. But what happens when we take them on their own terms? What can we learn? 

In this photo series, The Girls go about their daily lives. By getting down on their level, we, the observers, can get a fresh perspective on our world—and theirs.

Special thanks to the family of The Girls and the dear friend who introduced me. The title of this body of work is inspired by the nickname given to the chickens by their owners… And of course, thank you to The Girls.
